Poem # 16 - Before I Die

Before I Die

I want to travel the world in an aeroplane.
I want to learn Chinese and kiss in the rain.
I want to play guitar and fall in love.
I want to find a bikini that fits like a glove.
I want to ride a bike and drive a car.
I want a career where I can go far.
I want to scream how happy I am out loud.
I want to sing a song in front of a crowd.
I want to explore, sleep under the stars.
I want to stop eating so many chocolate bars.
Get good grades, pay my tuition too.
There are so many things that I want to do.
Swim with the dolphins and learn to ski,
There are so many things that I want to be.
I want to speak my mind, and be confident.
I want to get my own place and pay my own rent.
I want to know what I' m doing from one day to another.
I want to get married some day, and be a mother.
I want to see a psychic, and visit world wonders,
And then write a book without too many blunders.
There's many more things that I want to try.
A long list to do before I die.

Poem # 15 - It Can't Be Forced

It Can't be Forced

Creativity must come from inside,
Even if it's in a place where it's forced to hide.
Whenever it's Forced it comes out wrong.
To help it come naturally listen to a song.

If that doesn't work, well that's too bad.
If you can't produce, don't let it make you sad.
If it doesn't work, try another day.
Go have a life, go outside and play.

The hardest thing is to have a deadline,
Because when you don't feel like writing it should be fine.
Your heart should decide when you do or you don't.
When other things go on you know that you won't.

Of course discipline's part of writing too.
It's pretty hard to do what you know you must do.
So you give yourself certain words per week.
To meet this goal is what you seek.

I intended to write a poem per 24 hours,
Unfortunately that task was beyond my powers.
I wanted these poems the best they could be.
So I missed a day, why don't you sue me?

Poem # 14 - Man's Best Friend

Man's Best Friend

Greets you the second you get home,
Follows you wherever you roam.
With a happy bark he wags his tail,
Eating his cookies and leaving a trail.

Lapping up water happily,
Until he goes outside to pee.
Chasing a bumble bee 'round the yard.
Finding a stick and biting it hard.

Chasing a ball as you throw it.
Getting excited and digging a pit.
Wiping your paws as you come in.
Stopping you eating food out of the bin.

Who are you?
You know, don't pretend.
You're my dog.
You're man's best friend.

Poem # 13- Calm

Calm

Bright sunny day, or babbling brook.
Curled up reading in my favourite nook.
When things get so hectic that I want to scream,
I pause and think of my favourite dream.
The ideal state that I want to be.
I am calm.

My blood starts to bubble, I cannot sit still.
I start to worry if she won't or she will.
Worries abundant, I'm losing control.
Unnatural stress is taking its toll.
Then I think of my happy place.
I am calm.

Sunshine, puppies, rainbows too.
It's what I think of with nothing to do.
Without occupation, my mind starts to race.
My heart starts to beat at a break neck pace.
Then I remember to breathe and it all goes away.
I am calm.

The familiar room and familiar sounds,
The joy of friends making the rounds,
It doesn't take much for me to chill out.
I get worked up for nothing, over simplest doubt.
My muscles all relax instantaneously.
I am calm.

Finally.

Poem #12 - Attention Span

Attention Span

Nowhere to go, nothing to do,
Hey look, there's a bird that flew!
What was I saying? I kind of forget.
I'll figure it out so please don't you fret.

Something about a date or a time.
Hey isn't it cool when I start to rhyme?
Must get to work, there's things to complete.
Yet as I think I move to no beat.

Can't stay on one single topic for long,
Until I start humming some random song.
The more to do, the less gets done.
Being productive is really no fun.

A whole lot is better then working all night.
How about baseball, or flying a kite?
So many chores they pile to the sky.
Just thinking about them make me want to cry.

Thinking of an idea, then I start to stare.
My mind starts to wander, I don't really care.
Unrelated things through run through my mind
Look at all the cool knicknacks I find,

Cant read a whole book, or watch a whole show.
There's so many more interesting things that I know.
I love pretty colours and shiny things.
Like teddy bears and gold coloured rings.

So many things I do not on the plan.
We all know it's because of my short attention span.

Poem #11 - Get Ready to Dance

Get Ready to Dance

The lights pulse blindingly,
The music beats excitingly
The alcohol flows freely,
Get ready to dance.

You feel the beat within you
It's clear what you must do
Let's just skip the food,
You know it's time to dance.

Familiar music fills the dance floor.
You start to move wanting more.
You're getting hyper, now's your chance.
You've been waiting for the dance.

One, two, three, the drinks that you've had
That lovely buzz it makes you glad.
You love the lights, bask in their glare,
Dance like there's nobody there.

You don't get tired, it's too fun.
You won't stop till you're good and done.
You know this song you start to sing,
It's loud, it makes you ears ring.

The night blurs on at an exciting pace.
Each new songs makes your heart race.
You wish you could do this every day,
But tonight is your night out to play.
